Benoit Leroux – Robin – Quebec – Superhero Profile – May 23/05 -
Benoit Leroux - I am a father of three beautiful children by two mothers. After 15 years of intense parenting, often as a single parent, other times in a equal shared custody arrangement. All this came to a halt when a old crooked judge removed my boys from their fathers loving care. On top of that I now had to pay a lot in support and being denied access to my beloved boys. I thought this was bad luck because I had a bad lawyer. I soon after moved to the USA for work and began a new life and a new family. Only to find myself two years later being this time removed from the life of my daughter at the hands of the family courts. I began thinking “This is not right”.
In 2004 I founded the Fathers-4-Justice Montreal chapter and joined many other brave souls across Canada who were doing the same and became the first F4J coordinator for Québec. In May of 2005 I scaled the Jacques-Cartier Bridge in protest in Montréal, as Robin. I was soon after to be sued for mischief and the likes. In turn I went to the Supreme Court to challenge the discretionary power of the crown to choose the option (summary proceeding) impeding a jury in my case. The Supreme Court reject my application. I had my appeal hearing on the matter in the end of 2008 and am awaiting the judgment on April 8th, 2009. I defended myself without lawyer with the great help of my court accepted «defence secretary» Jean Julien.
